Holland Railconsult and ICT form joint venture
06/18/2003
Utrecht / Barendrecht 18 June 2003 – Consultancy Holland Railconsult and software developer ICT have set up a joint venture. The new company, InTraffic, is based in Utrecht and is active in traffic management systems for public transport and road traffic. Holland Railconsult and ICT have been working together for some time in the field of traffic management and have now formalised this cooperation in the form of a joint venture. The 70 InTraffic employees are all from the parent companies, Holland Railconsult and ICT, each of which holds a 50% stake in the new company. InTraffic provides a complete range of services, from consultancy, design, development, construction and maintenance of software for traffic management systems.
Both Holland Railconsult and ICT are convinced that InTraffic has a competitive edge on comparable companies in the sector, due to the complementary nature of its parent companies. Utrecht-based consultancy Holland Railconsult (with 1,600 employees) is specialised, among other things, in the development and maintenance of software for rail traffic systems. The company has long been a major player in the rail infrastructure sector. Software developer ICT (with 900 employees) is one of the leading independent software developers in the Netherlands and has offices in Barendrecht, Eindhoven, Deventer and Groningen. InTraffic has access to the expertise of both parent companies and therefore combines substantive know-how in the field of (public) transport systems with IT expertise. Holland Railconsult and ICT have been working together for a number of years and the joint venture is a direct result of this cooperation. In early 2001, the two companies set up an exclusive alliance in the field of train management systems.
The proposal to form a joint venture is submitted to the NMA (Dutch Competition Authority) for approval.
